A Full Night of ZZZZZZZZZZZ!!

Last night Cooper finally did something that I had pretty much given up on...that's right folks, he SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! Last evening we went to dinner for a friend's birthday where Cooper decided to take a nap at the restaurant and afterwards at her house. I just KNEW he would be up half the night since he took that nap so late in the evening. Boy he sure showed me! David and I woke up at 3:30 a.m...While I was trying to remember if this was the first time I had woken up in the night, David went to check on Cooper. He was stirring a little and making his sweet sleeping baby noises, but never opened his eyes. Five minutes later, after I had determined, that yes, this was my first time awake, I couldn't stand it and went in the nursery to see for myself. There he was, STILL sleeping like an angel. I went back to sleep, figuring I'd be up nursing the baby in the next hour or so. WRONG AGAIN! Cooper woke us up with his sweet baby waking noises at 6:30 a.m. Still unable to believe it, I checked my Itzbeen (my very handy mommy tool that really requires its own post sometime), and sure enough, he had been asleep for 7 and 1/2 hours! While he may not do it again for a while, I can still record it in his baby book: Cooper first slept through the night on our friend Libby's birthday...January 28th, 2009!

BEWARE the BUMBO!

Just a little note of concern! Last night I put Cooper in his Bumbo seat and started to snap on the play tray...as I was doing that, the tray unexpectedly snapped OFF the seat, flew up and hit my sweet boy in the face!!! We were completely horrified and traumatized, as Cooper screamed in pain! He is ok...a little cut to the bridge of his nose, but OH MY LORD! What if that thing had hit him lower in the nose or in the eye??? I had always thought that the way the tray connects to the seat and how it is in two pieces was a little awkward and weird, but it never occured to me that it could be dangerous! After Cooper's cut had been doctored and he was cooing and smiling again about 15 minutes later, we did a little research on the internet. Sure enough, all kinds of bad reviews and safety warnings in regards to the dangers of the bumbo were all over the internet. We have since thrown our tray away! If your baby likes his bumbo, just be aware that they can be dangerous!

Let's talk TEETH!

This weekend Cooper started belting out some very long, new sounds. He has been able to say "ah" and "o" for awhile now, but this weekend when he would get excited it was more like "AAAAAAAAHHHHH" and "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" He has such a melodious voice and I was overjoyed to really hear it! Whilst in the midde of one of his aaaahs, I noticed something peculiar on Cooper's upper gums...that's right...the beginnings of teeth! He has been drooling and eating his hand for a month but I guess I just didn't really think he would start teething so soon!

Three Months Old!

Check out 3-week-old Coop versus 3-month-old Coop!  Sweet, eight pound baby versus big ol' 15 pound ball of love!
Cooper is three months old today! He must have known he was getting close to this milestone, because he decided to squeeze in a few firsts in the last few days. Apparently he takes after both his mom and dad...we both tend to procrastinate, but still get things done under the buzzer. Not that Cooper is on any kind of time frame...we are in NO hurry for him to grow up. He seems to be, however! On Thursday night, we were laughing how Cooper will probably sit up before he rolls over because when we laid him on his back or tummy he did just that...laid there. When we had him propped up or in our arms, he was constantly straining to sit up! He decided to show us by rolling over from his tummy to his back twice on Friday night. On Saturday morning, with the camcorder rolling, David asked Cooper to show us again his new trick. He lifted his head and....(drum roll please).....spit up everywhere. Oh well, hopefully we can record him the next time! This morning, on his 3 month birthday, Cooper gave us a present. He LAUGHED OUT LOUD! I have never heard a more delightful, infectious sound in my life. I made a face, and he laughed. Then I laughed at his laugh, and he laughed again. Then I laughed harder, and he laughed harder...you get the picture. We may not have caught either of these firsts on camera, but we did catch a few sweet moments of him the last few days.
Cooper trying to watch the Cotton Bowl. (No, we don't really let him watch TV...but he was in the room as we gleefully watched Texas Tech implode and he wanted to see why were so excited.)
Figuring out one of his Christmas presents.
